YARD OPERATIONS MANGER

JOB TYPE: Direct Hire

COMP: $70K+ Annually, Company Vehicle, Performance Bonus



POSITION OVERVIEW

As a Yard Operations Manager (a.k.a. Field Service Manager) you will lead, direct, and execute the operational objectives of multiple projects to ensure timely completion of large projects in accordance with the customer contract, and must be skilled in heavy equipment operation. Typically assigned to multiple locations and multiple customers and must be geographically mobile and willing to relocate based upon customer projects.


JOB DUTIES:
  • Supervises, coordinates, or schedules activities of the field service location.
  • Monitors workflow metrics and takes corrective action as needed.
  • Balances staff across various tasks for fluctuating requirements.
  • Ensures that all procedures are observed, implemented, enforced, and training is provided when necessary, in the processing of all transactions.
  • Ensures timely and accurate completion of all customer and inventory transactions.
  • Safeguards inventory assets of the company, maintains integrity of all transactions, and maintains overall inventory accuracy above 99.5%.
  • Monitors workflow, work completed, error rates and related metrics and takes proper action when needed.
  • Fosters environment of continuous improvement in all aspects of the operation.
  • Implements cost reduction initiatives where necessary.
  • Develops best practices and standard tools to improve operational efficiency.

QUALIFICATIONS:
  • 3-5 years preferred of heavy equipment operation.
  • 3-5 years preferred of supervision experience in a construction environment.  
  • 3-5 years preferred of experience in inventory management.  
  • Bachelor’s Degree in business management or related preferred.
  • OSHA 10 and OSHA 30 certifications preferred.
  • Strong knowledge of inventory control processes.
  • Knowledge of electrical, construction, or mechanical products.  
  • Strong time management skills.
  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Basic computer skills.
  • Ability to understand and follow verbal and/or written instructions.
  • Ability to operate hand and power tools and equipment.
  • Ability to anticipate and prepare for customer needs.
  • Ability to adapt to changing situations and to perform multiple tasks simultaneously.

WORKING ENVIORNMENT:
  • Work is generally performed in an office environment; you may need to spend a reasonable amount of work outdoors.
  • Driving may be required for an extended period of time with frequent stops and starts.  
  • Can be exposed to outdoor weather conditions.
