SOUTH BEND, IN
JOB TYPE: Full-time
PAY RANGE: $16-$20 Hr. (Depending on shift), Shift Premium
SHIFT: All shifts, Expect 50+ hours per week.
POSITION OVERVIEW:
The General Laborer will be working indoors and outdoors at a scrap yard and responsible for performing various tasks that will include, but limited to, sorting through scrap metal, moving materials, and operating equipment.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES: (including but not limited to)
- Loading/Unloading
- Sorting
- Picking
- General Clean-up
- Moving materials
- Operating material moving equipment (as needed).
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Knowledge of scrap metal (preferred)
- Prior experience working outdoors (e.g., landscaping, lawncare, metal scrap yard, etc.,)
- Heavy Equipment Operation experience (a plus)
- Forklift Operation experience (a plus)
- Ability to work in all types of weather conditions.
- Must be highly self-motivated and work well with little supervision.
- Ability to work as part of a team.
- Communication skills oral and written.
- Time management skills.
- Physical ability to work for 8+ hours standing, stooping, bending, twisting, reaching, pulling, twisting, lifting.
- Physical ability to lift heavy weights.
- Ability to show up to work every day and work your assigned shift.
- Must be able to pass a pre-employment drug screening and background check.
