Roles and Responsibilities – Business Developer
Position Overview:
A Business Developer is responsible for designing and executing effective sales strategies to drive sales
growth. Such a role involves identifying new business opportunities, establishing and
maintaining relationships with key decision-makers and leveraging market trends and customer needs.
 
A successful candidate will promote a Systems and Solutions sales approach to gain market share, which
includes selling added value and tec.nicum.

Identify and Pursue New OEM Business Opportunities:
  • Proactively seek out and cultivate new business opportunities within the OEM sector.
  • Develop and manage a robust pipeline of potential OEM customers through effective prospecting and networking efforts.
Establish and Maintain Relationships with Key Decision-Makers:
  • Act as the primary point of contact for new OEM customers, nurturing strong and lasting
business relationships.
  • Demonstrate excellent interpersonal and communication skills to understand customer needs
and provide tailored solutions.
Collaborate with Internal Teams:
  • Work closely with internal teams, including applications engineering, solutions, customer
service, and marketing, to ensure customer satisfaction and foster long-term partnerships.
  • Facilitate regular communication, targeted marketing initiatives, and collaborative efforts to
deliver optimal solutions meeting customer requirements.
Collaborate with Regional Managers:
  • Engage with all Regional Managers to prevent overlap in targeting companies and ensure
efficient use of resources.
  • Utilize effective communication skills and leverage CRM/SAP research to gather company
information and track sales activities.
Analyze Market Trends and Customer Needs:
  • Continuously monitor and analyze market trends, aligning sales strategies with evolving
customer needs.
  • Conduct regular research on market conditions, customer feedback, and competitor activity to
maintain Schmersal's competitiveness in the safety market.
Prepare and Deliver Presentations:
  • Develop compelling presentations for customers and prospects, showcasing Schmersal's value
proposition.
  • Demonstrate strong presentation skills and effectively articulate product offerings to convey
their unique benefits.
Win Specs and Close Business Deals:
  • Take responsibility for winning specifications and closing business contracts with OEM
customers.
  • Apply strong negotiation skills and effectively manage the sales process from initiation to
successful closure.
Monitor Competition and Stay Up to Date on Industry Developments:
  • Keep a vigilant eye on competitor activity and stay abreast of industry developments.
  • Possess a comprehensive understanding of industry trends, adapting strategies to respond
effectively to changes in market conditions.
Qualifications:
  • Bachelor’s degree in business, Marketing, Engineering, or a related field.
  • Proven experience in business development, preferably in the Automation and Manufacturing
industry.
  • Strong understanding of machine safety components and services.
  • Excellent communication, negotiation, and interpersonal skills.
  • Results-oriented with a track record of meeting and exceeding sales targets.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team environment.
Working Conditions:
Working conditions for a Business Developer involve regular travel, with an expectation to be present in
the office on non-travel days if there is a Schmersal office in your local area. Depending on the travel
schedule and specific job responsibilities, there may be flexibility to work from home on certain days.
This arrangement allows for a balanced approach, ensuring effective client interactions and project
development while maintaining the flexibility to work remotely when needed.
